Director - Office of Management
Eric Stone is CDER’s Executive Officer and Director of the Office of Management. He leads the center’s administrative management operations, which includes more than 5,000 employees and an annual budget of more than $2 billion, comprised of a mix of congressional appropriations and multiple user fee programs. Under Mr. Stone’s leadership, the Office of Management staff manages all aspects of: ethics management, human capital management, financial management (including budget formulation, user-fee collection, and budget execution), acquisition management, employee safety, and facilities management.
Before joining FDA, Mr. Stone served as the Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer of the Naval Surface Warfare Center. He was also Head, Financial Management Division at the Naval Research Laboratory and a Program Manager responsible for the financial, acquisition, grants and property management system at the National Park Service (NPS). He led the largest system implementation in NPS history and developed innovative strategies for establishing legal precedent for reopening the national parks during a government shutdown, positively impacting the local economies across the county.
Mr. Stone is a Certified Financial Manager (CFM). He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Bradley University and a master’s in business administration from University of Maryland University College. He is also a graduate of the Department of the Interior’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program.
