Summary: Sunlamp Products; Proposed Amendment to Performance Standard (Proposed Rule)
The proposed rule would address performance standards of sunlamp products and ultraviolet (UV) lamps intended for use in these products. The proposed rule intends to reduce health risks associated with such use.
The primary benefit of the proposed rule would be from reduced injuries, including sunburn, photokeratitis, skin cancer, cataracts and ocular melanoma, and from reduced exposure to UV radiation. Cost are associated with several aspects of the performance standards, and we use ranges to capture uncertainty.
