Background:
Conversations on Cancer: Advancing Equity in Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Communities: Racism and Injustice is a 1 ½ hour conversation that will explore the surge of racism and hate crimes against AAPIs that is often linked to rhetoric blaming AAPIs for the spread of COVID-19.
This is an important problem affecting many AAPI communities across the U.S. The panel discussion is informal and will address the following topics:
- Impact of COVID-19 on racism and healthcare in the AAPI population
- Disparities in cancer care in AAPIs
- Patients’ perspective on disparities in cancer care in the AAPI community
- Barriers to seeking medical care for AAPIs
