Hiring Programs

Civil Service Appointments:

The Federal government usually hires permanent employees under a career-conditional appointment. After employment for three continuous years, the employee becomes a full career employee.

Commissioned Corps

The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is an elite team of more than 6,000 full time, well-trained highly qualified public health professionals dedicated to delivering the Nation's public health promotion and disease prevention programs and advancing public health science.

Student Employment Programs

The student employment program provides Federal employment opportunities to students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment as degree seeking students taking at least a half-time academic, technical, or vocational course load in an accredited high school, technical, vocational, 2 or 4 year college or university, graduate or professional school.  Students gain experience through the HHS Pathways programs, which include opportunities for students, opportunities for recent graduates, and the Presidential Management Fellows program.

Commissioner's Fellowship Program

The FDA offers a two-year fellowship program, which provides an opportunity for health professionals and other scientist to receive training and experience at the FDA.
