Why We Do Research

We support FDA’s regulation of animal products. We deliver data that informs regulatory decision-making about animal food and drugs. Our research plays an important role in regulatory actions such as product recalls and new animal drug approvals.

Our commitment to protecting animal health goes beyond assuring the safety, effectiveness, and quality of individual products. We are advocates for the judicious use of animals and engaged in efforts to replace, reduce, and refine the use of animals in research. We’re accomplishing that goal by exploring minimally-invasive research and developing in vitro methods to test products in the lab instead of in animals.
