CMS Reimbursement Issues

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is the Federal agency responsible for reimbursing mammography facilities certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) for Medicare patients receiving Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) screening. Facilities seeking resolution of Medicare reimbursement issues for FFDM units should contact CMS directly rather than their Accreditation Bodies.  Please note that it can take five to ten working days after facility accreditation and certification data is transmitted to CMS before that data is processed by CMS providers.
