Technology Transfer Tools for Collaboration

FDA scientists working in lab

FDA’s Technology Transfer team facilitates interactions between FDA scientists and collaborators, who develop and transfer technologies created in the laboratory.

FDA’s Technology Transfer Program team conducts a careful review of proposed projects to select the appropriate collaborative agreement for the project. In some cases, multiple agreements, over several years, may be used to fully develop a technology.

FDA’s Technology Transfer team makes a final decision about the type of agreement after considering the goals of the investigators and their collaborator, project funding, the specifics of the exchange of materials and data, and the management of publications and intellectual property.

The following is a description of the kind of agreements that FDA uses.
